Scope of an ECA Coordinator
- Analyse the business model of a project
- Assist in transaction structuring (incl. risk allocation) and negotiation of term sheet
- Advise on required level of Sponsor support / recourse (e.g. in relation to construction, offtake) for bankability
- Evaluate long-term risk-mitigating financing solutions provided by ECAs and institutional financiers
- Assist in the selection and appointment of Lenders’ consultants on behalf of the ECAs
- Run the financial model on behalf the ECAs and conducting sensitivity / break-even analyses for the project
- Assist ECA(s) with their credit approval process
- Assist with the negotiation of loan documentation and review of project documents

The Australian rare earth project involves developing a rare earth mine and processing facilities, representing a strategic opportunity for KGS to mobilising KEXIM resources. Acting as the KEXIM Coordinator, KGS supports KEXIM’s due diligence and internal credit process, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation. As a result, both KEXIM and KGS are participating as anchor lenders in the project, alongside other ECAs and institutional financiers from Australia, Canada and Europe.
